The date was the11th of February ,a bus full of exuberant children from St Mathews primary school made its way towards Mayfield leisure centre .For the awaiting Indoor Athletics .Happy because the original date of February the second was cancelled due to chronic weather conditions .

Once the eager children of St. Matthews’s primary school arrived at Mayfield leisure centre, they were greeted by Stobhill, St. David’s and St. Margret’s. The children from all the schools joined in a warm up and then were ready.

As time flew by the events were called out. The nervous children who were called stood at the start line. Some events were lost and some events were won. No matter what place the children came their team still cheered them on.

The children all wearing their red polo shirts, a symbol of their team identity waited in suspense for the scores. All the children clapped enthusiastically for each other. Fourth place, St Margaret’s, third place Stobhill, all the hearts of the children from St Matthew’s were pounding, it came down to the last two. St Matthew’s in second place, meaning St David’s won. Even though they came second, they were still proud of themselves.
